Who is Steve?
Industrial and Operations Engineering. That’s what it says on my undergrad degree from the University of Michigan; yet here I am, a financial advisor. Let me give you some more background so you can get an idea of who you’ll be working with and what unique strengths I bring to the table.
Having always had an aptitude for problem solving, it seemed only natural for me to become an engineer. I started out my professional career working as a design engineer for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. While I was there, I began working on my MBA. This is where I developed my passion for business and finance. When the automotive industry crashed in 2009, I took the opportunity to apply my engineering skills in a different industry. I started my advisory career with MassMutual in mid-2009 and later went independent to be able to better serve my clients. In early 2018, I aligned with Commonwealth Financial Network to bring a new level of independence, technology, and resources to my practice.
Over the past 10+ years I’ve gained experience serving individuals and businesses in the local community. I have also continued my professional education and development. I hold the FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 66 securities registrations. I completed the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 2020.
I enjoy being active in my community. I serve on the board of directors of both the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce and Live Life Federal Credit Union. I am also active in the Eagle Scouts of Metro Detroit and the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan through the U of M Club of Greater Detroit.
My wife and I live in Macomb with our three children. In my free time I enjoy home brewing, shooting, listening to music, and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Huron.
Why Atticus?
My oldest son’s middle name is Atticus. It was chosen for him because of Atticus Finch, the main character in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch was a strong, intelligent, wise, and morally straight hero. These are characteristics I want my son to embody, and characteristics I want my advisory practice to embody.
“Before I can live with other folks I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.” - Atticus Finch
